An exceptional, unissued, and highly desirable World War II German gas cape pouch and cape set (Gasplane mit Tasche), suitable for a choice Heer or Waffen-SS combat display. The cloth pouch is manufactured by a desirable wartime contractor and features a faintly readable factory ink-stamp on the interior flap. Inside, the pouch retains its original, matching, and untouched olive-green gas cape (Gasplane). This specific cape features an incredibly rare factory variation: a specialized, glued-in tensioning string with integral loops designed to adjust and tighten the cape quickly without tearing the material. Surviving, unissued depot pieces featuring this rare structural factory variation are exceptionally difficult to find.
This Item
The grouping is in choice, mint, and unissued surplus condition throughout. The cloth pouch remains entirely structurally sound with crisp stitching. The original steel press-studs function perfectly, displaying only the minor, superficial oxidation typically encountered on these depot-stored items. The enclosed olive-green gas cape remains tightly factory-folded and is complete with its original, crisp paper factory label reading: "agd 349/43/9 80 Mo Ap". This code explicitly denotes wartime production by the firm Rudolf Scholder from Stuttgart in September 1943 (batch 349). It further specifies the official 80-gram weight and the exact technical treatment of the material: "Mo Ap", standing for Monor-Papier Appretur (the specialized chemical impregnation and finishing lacquer used to make the paper cape gas-resistant). Both components show perfect, synchronized storage preservation.
