Rare Named Miniature 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger
Category:
€ 769,00
A highly unique, historically significant, and completely original Third Reich period miniature of the 2nd Model Luftwaffe Officer's Dagger (introduced in 1937), complete with its original miniature wire portepee. This specific executive letter opener features a rare commercial/industrial presentation engraving on the blade: "Tiefbau Unternehmung Hermann Kirchner". Kirchner was a prominent German civil engineering and construction firm that worked closely with the Organisation Todt and the Luftwaffe on major wartime military infrastructure projects, such as airfields and fortifications. Premium, custom-engraved presentation miniature daggers like this are seldom seen on the market, offering an incredible crossover piece for advanced edged weapon and industrial history collectors.
This Item
The miniature dagger is in exceptional, untouched condition, displaying a nice, synchronized period patina across all components.
The Blade: The bright steel blade is beautifully preserved on both sides, correctly finished with a slightly rounded safety tip typical for factory-produced desk letter openers. The front side features the crisp, deeply engraved dedication to the Hermann Kirchner firm.
The Hilt & Grip: The hardware features highly detailed aluminum fittings (crossguard and pommel) with an uncleaned, soft age patina. The attractive orange synthetic grip is flawless, showing no cracks or chips, and retains its original twisted wire wrap completely intact.
The Scabbard & Accessories: The stippled steel scabbard shows a nice, dark uncleaned patina with no dents. Crucially, the dagger is complete with its fragile, original factory-tied silver-aluminum wire bullion portepee, which shows only minimal age toning and is entirely stable.
