WWII German Wehrmacht M37 Gebirgsjäger Bergschuhe An original pair of German mountain trooper ankle boots (Bergschuhe für Gebirgsjäger). This pair beautifully illustrates the historical wartime transitions of Wehrmacht footwear. Produced early in the war in natural brown leather, these boots were subsequently blackened by the soldier in accordance with the strict 1941 camouflage regulations. The original brown undertones are still clearly visible beneath the blackened layers. The boots feature the textbook, iconic Feldgrau green wool lining along the top edge of the boot opening, designed to protect the ankles during alpine ascents. True to their post-war service history, the heavy iron hobnails, heel irons, and side krammen were professionally removed by a local cobbler after 1945 to allow civil or workwear usage, and the leather soles have been resoled flat. Size roughly 7,5 (42) A highly desirable pair of M37 combat mountain boots with intact wool lining, perfect for display.
