RARE WWII Captured French Cavalry Musette Mle 1892/1935 - Personalized to Friedrich SimmendingerAn exceptionally rare, museum- and investment-grade French military canvas haversack (Musette Mle 1892/1935), manufactured pre-1940 and subsequently captured as a highly prized war trophy (Beutestück) by a German soldier. This specific elite variant is equipped with the highly sought-after, early-pattern carabiner quick-release fastener (mousqueton / clip de fixation rapide) integrated directly onto the heavy metal roller buckle hardware. This rare feature was strictly issued to Cavalry (Cavalerie) and motorized units (Troupes Motorisées) for rapid attachment and detachment to saddle rings or vehicle fixtures. This specialized configuration explicitly explains why the long infantry shoulder straps are absent, as they were never issued with this cavalry pattern. The white canvas interior flap (rabat intérieur en toile blanche) features a stunning, large hand-inked display. It contains a highly detailed period field-drawing of an issued piece of German combat equipment alongside the complete home address of the soldier written in beautiful, fluent Sütterlin script: "Friedrich Simmendinger, zum Löwen, Hausen i/Killertal, Hohenzollern". This exceptional level of personalization allows for excellent further historical and genealogical research.Crucially, the inner flap also retains its original, authentic French military depot and inspection markings, showcasing a clear oval inspector's ink stamp (tampon d'inspection) and the large, desirable circular depot stamp from the prestigious manufacturer "Daisay, Rennes".The bag is constructed from heavy olive-drab canvas with a distinct white linen inner lining variation. The exterior roller buckles retain a massive amount of their original olive-drab/khaki factory paint with honest combat wear and light surface oxidation. The leather reinforcement tabs (pattes de fermeture en cuir) show further field-use personalization, including a crisp period ink character marked onto the metal fastening clip. All original French hardware, interior canvas dividers, and heavy-duty structural stitching remain 100% intact, strong, and completely untouched. An absolute textbook masterpiece of campaign-used cavalry gear with unparalleled character.
