This original pre-war German military ammunition box (Patronenkasten 34) is an exceptional, combat-used artifact featuring a highly desirable slanted-lid configuration. Manufactured in 1937 from lightweight aluminum, the top lid showcases a very crisp, prominent manufacturer logo for the renowned firm Gustav Appel (G. Appel, Spandau-Berlin) alongside the clearly struck production year 1937. This specific box was later repurposed in the field during the 1944 Western Front campaigns, receiving a classic three-tone Normandy camouflage finish (Tan, Olive Green, and Red-Brown).The camouflage paint exhibits honest, heavy battlefield wear with a beautiful, authentic weathered patina, revealing sections of the underlying factory finish beneath. Remarkably, all original leather components remain fully intact, including the leather protective sleeves on both the top carry handle and the side tension latch. The hardware functions smoothly, and the box remains structurally solid throughout.
