"GNL 38 over '37' (Gebrüder Nölle) A highly interesting, early-pattern production WWII German M31 aluminum canteen drinking cup (Trinkbecher 31). Executed in heavy, classic blank aluminum, this piece has never been lacquered or painted, which is characteristic for these early variants. The handle bracket is deeply maker stamped "G.N.L.", identifying the manufacturer as Gebrüder Nölle Bestecke, Lüdenscheid.Remarkably, the date stamp shows a clear period factory correction: it was originally stamped 37 (1937), but the "7" was stamped over with an 8, officially reissuing it for 1938. The cup shows honest, minor service-related dents and surface marks as expected from a true field piece, but remains completely solid with its original wire folding handles and bracket firmly riveted. A scarce, variation-grade item perfect for advanced field gear collectors.
