A beautifully preserved, rare wartime German Patronenkasten 36 ammunition box. Unlike standard infantry ammunition cans, this specific model was specifically designed for use in armored vehicles, specialized gun carriages, and the Zwillingssockel twin machine gun mountings. It was engineered to hold a 100 to 150-round belt of 8x57mm ammunition for the MG34 and MG42 machine guns.This steel transport box retains a high percentage of its original factory field-grey/olive-green paint finish. The metal casing is deeply and crisply maker-stamped with the verified wartime three-letter ordinance code "orc", indicating production by Fr. Weber & Co. (Berlin), alongside the production year code "41" for 1941. All hinges, mounting fittings, and the closure mechanisms remain in smooth, fully operational condition. While the lid shows a very minor contemporary bend from operational field use, the box closes tightly and latches securely into the frame hooks. A textbook, highly collectible vehicle-mounted ammunition box with great combat character from a classic Berlin manufacturer.
