Premium White Seal Fur WWII German Gebirgsjäger Ski Climbing Skin (Steigfell) – Size 180 Stamped – Mint Unissued Condition, Offered for sale: an outstanding piece of elite German Mountain Troops (Gebirgsjäger) winter equipment. This is a 100% original WWII German ski climbing skin (Steigfell) in a highly desirable white winter variant, crafted from premium, water-resistant white seal fur (Seehundfell). These specialized skins were an absolute necessity for elite mountain troops operating in deep snow. They were mounted underneath the wooden military skis with the natural fur hairs pointing backward. This unique physiological design allowed the Gebirgsjäger soldier to glide smoothly forward, while the friction of the fur firmly bit into the snow when moving upward—preventing the soldier from sliding backward when climbing steep, treacherous mountain slopes. Once the summit was reached, the skins were quickly detached so the soldier could ski down normally.Condition & Features:This specific piece remains in flawless, absolute mint unissued depot condition with zero hair loss. The fur is brilliant white and completely supple. Size Stamped: Clearly ink-stamped "180" on the canvas backing, indicating it was factory-manufactured for standard 180 cm Wehrmacht combat skis.Hardware: Equipped with heavy-duty, late-war style galvanized steel tension clamp buckles to prevent rust and failure in extreme sub-zero alpine conditions, fitted to sturdy canvas attachment straps. Please note that we currently have two other unique factory variations of these original WWII Gebirgsjäger climbing skins available in our inventory!
