Original WWII German Gebirgsjäger Ski Climbing Skin – Rare Camouflaged Animal Fur – (our) Variant B. An original WWII German Mountain Troops (Gebirgsjäger) ski climbing skin (Steigfell). These skins were attached to the underside of military wooden skis to provide friction and grip when climbing steep, snowy mountain slopes. This specific piece (Variant B) features a highly unusual, rare mid-to-late war natural fur composition. It displays a distinct, camouflaged spotted pelt pattern from non-standard mountain wildlife (such as badger or mountain fox), utilized due to period material shortages. Please note that this item is incomplete. The canvas straps and metal tension buckles are missing. The original leather fastening strap at the end remains firmly attached with its authentic period rivet. The fur and leather backing remain flexible and in good display condition. Completely unmarked. Please note that we currently have two other factory variations of these original WWII Gebirgsjäger climbing skins available in our inventory, including a premium white seal fur variant and a standard pattern skin. Please check our other listings or contact us directly if you are interested in purchasing these alternative contract variations.
