Rare Early SS-VT / RZM M1934 Tornister – July 1937 Dated. An authentic, untouched early SS-VT / RZM M1934 Tornister (commonly known as the 'Affe') produced during the pre-war buildup period. This specific variant features several characteristic early-production details and a compelling history. Dating & Depot: The leather shoulder strap is clearly blind-stamped "B.A. 7 37", identifying it as an official military Bekleidungsamt approval from july 1937. Early Features: The backpack is fitted with high-quality early natural brown leather straps and aluminum hardware. The interior of the 32 cm wide box construction is completely lined with fur along the sides for equipment protection. The inner canvas flaps feature the early buckle-and-strap closure and the standard system of four vertical gear loops with protective leather reinforcement blocks. The lower straps utilize a semi-permanent buckle loop design through fixed metal D-rings, typical for early specialist and mounted contract orders. Markings: The inner canvas is ink-stamped with the factory/depot acceptance code "AD Gr. 43" (Gruppe 43).Period Denazification: The main leather triangle on the reverse was heavily scraped during the immediate post-war era in May 1945 to remove the politically dangerous SS-RZM property stamps and runes. However, the lower section of the stamp survived the scraping, leaving the distinct contours of a Roman numeral "I" (indicating issue via SS-Bekleidungslager I Dachau) clearly visible right above the aluminum rivet. The straps are original to the frame and have never been replaced. A very honest, textbook example of an early SS-VT field gear piece with a great historical narrative.
