Very nice, early 1st pattern Luftwaffe officers breast eagle. This is the highly desirable and rare model with the downward-sloping wings and hanging tail, internationally known as the 'Droop Tail' or 'Drop Tail' eagle. The eagle is fully hand-embroidered in silver bullion wire on a blue-gray wool base. It shows nice authentic period wear with an honest patina on the silver metal threads. It has been carefully removed from a uniform tunic, and the reverse clearly shows the open period embroidery work, original thread residues, and backing texture. A clean, untouched top-tier insignia.
