Wehrmacht Hand-Held Field Telephone Cable Reel (Abspuler)
An original German wartime-era portable steel hand cable reel (Abspuler), engineered for Nachrichtentruppen (signals) and combat engineer personnel to deploy and retrieve field telephone or antenna wire on the battlefield. This classic compact model features the distinctive perforated steel sides for lightweight carry, an integrated folding winding mechanism that functions smoothly, and its original wooden handles which remain in exceptionally solid condition. The metalwork retains an excellent amount of its authentic period field-grey/green paint finish with only minor age wear. While no visible maker codes or Waffenamt inspection stamps are present—as is common with these thin-stamped field items—the piece displays a fantastic, crisp look and operates flawlessly. A very clean, highly functional piece of combat communications gear.
