Unlike the highly common parade variants featuring a thin, shiny lacquer coat that often suffers from age-cracking (craquelé), this specific piece is an unissued, heavy field-grade leather construction (stabile Feldausführung). The matte black leather remains incredibly stiff, robust, and shows absolutely no signs of wear, stretch marks, or belt attachment use, indicating it has never been carried. The heavy-duty stitching is entirely flawless, tight, and original throughout, with no missing segments. These robust, service-style frogs for dress bayonets are far scarcer than their ceremonial equivalents and are seldom found as separate, unissued components.
