Army Medical Personnel Sleeve Badge

WWII German Army Medical Personnel Sleeve Badge - Mint Late-War Felt Variant (Sanitätspersonal)

An exceptional, original German WWII specialist career proficiency sleeve badge (Tätigkeitsabzeichen) for an Army Medical Orderly / Medic (Sanitätspersonal). Medical personnel held a vital role across all frontline units, providing critical first aid under combat conditions.

This specific piece is a highly interesting, documented mid-to-late war factory production variation. The iconic design depicting the golden-yellow Aesculapius rod and serpent—complete with a detailed red-embroidered tongue—is beautifully machine-embroidered onto a circular, heavy olive-brown wool-felt backing. Recovered straight from a recently discovered wartime German tailor’s archive (Schneidernachlass), the patch is in pristine, absolute mint warehouse condition with clean factory borders and untouched reverse-side threads. A premier factory variation that is highly sought after by specialized insignia collectors.
