Early Woven Hitler Youth / BDM Member’s Tunic & Sport Shirt Diamond (Ges. Gesch.)
This is an authentic, early-pattern World War II German Hitler Youth (HJ) and Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) member’s insignia ruit. Unlike the later mass-produced flat BeVo styles, this desirable early transitional variant features a heavy, densely embroidered multi-piece construction on a sturdy white cotton base, showcasing brilliant red and white institutional quadrants and a sharp central swastika. Crucially, the reverse upper corner features the period legal protection mark "Ges. Gesch." finely embroidered in red thread. Measuring approximately 9 x 5.5 cm, this universal early pattern was prominently utilized both as a sleeve insignia on BDM leader jackets and attire, and centered directly onto the official white HJ/BDM athletic sport shirts (Sporthemd).
This particular piece represents a fantastic, character-rich addition to our inventory. It is part of our recently discovered German tailor's stock (Kleingewerbe/Schneiderbestand), which contains a fascinating mix of unused materials alongside period-worn or repaired uniform pieces. This diamond is in wonderful, honestly uniform-removed condition, displaying authentic minor fraying along the borders where it was carefully unstitched, along with light contemporary storage age. The reverse beautifully exhibits the complex, heavy thread-trailing typical of early, high-tier textile manufacturing. A classic, evocative piece that displays fantastic historical character.
