WWII German M31 Combat Breadbag – Highly Characterful Field-Repaired Specimen
Beschrijving (Webtekst)
An original, mid-war pattern German M31 Army/Heer breadbag (Brotbeutel 31). This specific piece is a textbook, heavily characterful combat example that perfectly illustrates the realities of frontline resourcefulness and field-maintenance.
The olive-drab canvas body is completely intact and remains in a strong, stable condition. It comes fully equipped with all its original steel D-rings, leather belt loops, and attachment tabs. What makes this piece stand out to the advanced equipment collector are the unmistakable period field-repairs: the original trooper lost several buttons during deployment and replaced them using varied period replacements. Most notably, a civilian/captured silver-toned dish button marked "Star" was sewn to the top rim. Additionally, the soldier attached a secondary zinc button outfitted with a section of rugged utility/Zeltbahn cordage for quick fastening. A fantastic, completely untouched "been-there" combat item with massive display appeal. No-nonsense history in its purest form.
