M24 Stielhandgranate Handle bdp 1941

Wartime German M24 Stielhandgranate Wooden Handle - "bdp 1941" Marked

An authentic, original wartime German Model 1924 stick grenade (Stielhandgranate 24) hollow wooden handle. The wood remains structurally solid and stable, displaying beautiful age-toning and grain characteristics. The upper portion of the handle features a crisp, deeply hot-iron stamped manufacturer's ordnance code "bdp" paired with the production year "1941". This standard code designates manufacture by Friedrich Maurer & Söhne, Eisenwerk und Kesselschmiede in München-Freimann. The steel threaded collar at the top is completely intact, uncleaned, and retains sharp, crisp threads ready to accept an original M24 inert explosive or smoke can. Crucially, this handle retains the remnants of its painted white band/stripe around the mid-section. This textbook marking was applied at the factory or depot to quickly identify the handle for use with smoke grenade heads (Nebelhandgranate 24). This white stripe, paired with distinct structural rings on specialized versions, provided combat soldiers with immediate visual and tactile identification in low-light conditions to prevent deploying smoke instead of high explosives.
