An authentic, unissued wartime German signal operator's proficiency arm patch (Tätigkeitsabzeichen für Nachrichtenpersonal). This specific variation is constructed on a dark green badge-cloth wool base, featuring a beautifully executed, thick machine-embroidered lightning bolt (Blitz) in bright golden-yellow thread. The reverse of the patch retains its original, fully intact thin black factory paper backing material. This textbook paper backing was utilized during production to stabilize the wool during the tight embroidery process and was typically left on unissued insignia.
