WWII German Nb.39 Smoke Stick Grenade Wooden Handle - 1940 Dated
An original WWII German wooden handle for the standard infantry Nb.39 smoke stick grenade (Nebelhandgranate 39). This specific variant features the characteristic deep grooves grooved into the lower handle area, a deliberate design feature allowing soldiers to visually and physically differentiate a smoke grenade from a high-explosive M24 grenade in low-light conditions. The wood shows some minor period wear and a small chip out of the side, but remains completely solid. It is clearly ink-stamped or lightly branded with a maker's code alongside a crisp '1940' production year. The upper metal threaded connector is present and in functional condition. A very desirable early-war smoke variant handle.
