Allied Military Government Armband

Post-WWII Allied Military Government "M.G. - M.R." Police Armband
An original and clean example of a post-war German auxiliary police armband, dating from the immediate aftermath of World War II (circa 1945–1949). This multi-lingual armband features the black ink-stamped text M.G. – M.R. POLICE – POLIZEI, which stands for Military Government / Military Rule. These bands were issued by the Allied occupation forces—primarily in the American zone—to newly formed local auxiliary police units tasked with maintaining law and order during the transitional civilian phase. Manufactured from a coarse, off-white linen/cotton fabric with stitched upper and lower edges, the armband remains in excellent, clean, and unaltered condition. A fantastic and authentic piece of occupation and post-war administrative history.
