Adolf Hitler Strasse enamel sign

Authentic porcelain enamel Adolf Hitler Strasse sign. Every village or town had one: an A.H. Strasse or Platz... Most ended up in the scrapyard, but a few have been preserved.

This is not some kind of cheap reproduction. Enamel signs are risky, because they're copied en masse. Yet, there are clear differences between reproductions and originals. Of course, I can't make you feel it; I can only take 2 dimensional photos, but I'll try to describe it.

This sign with white on a rich deep blue colour has some chips and rust around the corners and edges. Enameled on a thick and curved metal backing. If you run your fingers over the surface it has the true embossed enamel feel. The artwork on the sign is vibrant and slightly raised due to the layering of enamel during the manufacturing process. The edges of the cyphers are slightly rounded with distinct edges of layers of enamel visible. The sign shows natural signs of aging including the rust spots and chipped enamel, especially around mounting holes. The wear (front and back) looks consistent with the sign’s age. Due to the layers of enamel and thick metal backing it's total weight is 1.686 Gr. roughly 1.7 KG. Real deal. Measurements: 80 x 17 CM
