Heer (Army) Officers dagger

The World War II German Army (Heer) dress dagger was a ceremonial and status item for officers, first authorized in 1935. It was not a combat weapon but an accessory for the uniform.
The grip is typically made of celluloid or wood, featuring a color that ranges from white to orange. The blade is double-edged and pointed, with most authentic blades manufactured by one of over 40 firms in the German city of Solingen. Many blades bear the company's trademark. The dagger could be worn with decorative hangers, which were attached to the officer's belt. An aluminum portepee, or sword knot, was wrapped around the grip to signify officer rank.

The handwork on the crossguard is very nice. This dagger is still completely intact and has never been cleaned. The blade shows some blemishes, which is normal for this type of dagger, the tip is as sharp as a needle!. What is important, however, is that all components of this dagger belong together, and this is an original, non-assembled example. The scabbard is very neat and undamaged. The portepee has some fraying at the crossguard but is otherwise in very good condition and at its original length. The grip shows no cracks or tears and retains its original orange color. The pommel has a beautiful patina. The hangers are very neat and undamaged. All the silver-plated clasps are in excellent condition, with no fraying on the sling and the back beautifully trimmed with dark green velvet. A magnificent dagger in a very good condition!
