A WW2 German Panzer Schirmmütze is a peaked visor cap worn by armored division personnel (tank crews) in the Wehrmacht Heer, often featuring distinctive pink piping (Truppenfarbe) and a black / dark green band with a grey crown. They were used by officers and NCOs for service and walking-out, frequently featuring insignia like the eagle and cockade. The cap is instantly recognizable by the rose-pink piping around the crown and band, denoting Panzer troops. Typically made of field-grey wool, they featured a stiffened, high-front "saddleback" shape. Officers often wore high-quality privately purchased versions, while NCOs/enlisted men (EM) were issued standard caps, sometimes in a "crusher" (soft-topped) style. Completed with a metal or embroidered national eagle and a cockade with oak leaves.

This is a magnificent panzer officers visor cap made by the Erel company from Berlin. It came from a family estate in Germany and came with the uniform I also offered on the website. It is a deluxe Erel version with a hand-stitched cockade and bird made of silver wire. The lining is made of gold-colored silk. The sweatband is completely intact. The diamond bearing the manufacturer's name is still neatly in place, as is the wearer's name ribbon. This one is made from the finest quality fabric called doeskin. The term doeskin refers to a high-quality, medium-weight fabric, traditionally made from 100% merino wool, known for its extreme softness, tight weave, and subtle, luxurious sheen The entire piece is in pristine, found-in-like condition and has a beautiful saddle shape. I have carefully inspected the item and could not find a single moth hole! A beautiful visor cap, just the way you want it!
