€ 229,00
The Long Service Award (Dienstauszeichnung) was instituted by Adolf Hitler on March 16, 1936, to recognize the dedication of professional soldiers in the Wehrmacht. The 2nd Class award was bestowed for 18 years of active military service. These medals symbolized a career that often began in the Reichswehr and spanned into the buildup and execution of the Second World War.
This item:
An exceptional and high-quality example of the Wehrmacht 18-Year Long Service Award. This set is in "Near Mint" condition, looking almost as fresh as the day it was manufactured.
Condition: Near Mint. The medal retains nearly all of its original silver wash. There are a few tiny age spots (oxidation specks) visible upon close inspection, which only confirm the medal's age and authenticity. The frosted details remain very sharp. Included is the original silvered Wehrmacht eagle for the ribbon. Significantly, the eagle has never been mounted. Both attachment prongs are fully intact and straight. Comes with its original, vibrant cornflower blue ribbon. The fact that the eagle was never attached makes this a rare "Time Capsule" set. This is a textbook example of a long-service award for a seasoned career soldier. A "Top Shelf" example for the collector who demands superior condition with just the right amount of honest age.
