Unissued WWII German M31 Helmet liner. An exceptional, original World War II German M31 helmet liner (Innentopf M31) in rare, unissued stock condition. This complete liner assembly is designed for a size 64 helmet shell and accommodates a head size of 57 . It features a zinc/galvanized steel outer band and comes complete with its original leather drawstring.
Manufactured in 1942 by the highly regarded firm Fr. W. Müller, this liner is fully stamped on both the metal band and the interior leather. Finding an original, unissued wartime helmet liner that has never been mounted inside a shell is incredibly difficult today, making this a premier piece for advanced collectors or high-end helmet restorations.
This Item
Leather State: The leather remains in unissued, completely intact condition. It includes the original factory drawstring woven through the tongues. There is some minor, light superficial storage dirt present on the surface, which can be very easily cleaned or left as-is for maximum historical character. The leather is strong and not dried out. Metal Band & Hardware: The zinc-coated steel band is structurally perfect, straight, and retains all original rivets and spring clips. The outer zinc band is deeply and clearly stamped with the shell and liner size "64 nA 57", alongside the manufacturer logo and date: "Metallwarenfabrik F.W.M. 1942". The interior side of the leather is crisply stamped with the patent mark and production year: "D.R.P. 42" (Deutsches Reichspatent 1942). A choice, unissued, and completely unmodified 1942 survivor. Perfect for completing a high-end M40 or M42 combat helmet shell.
