*Mint 1940 Wehrmacht Black Schiffchen Side Cap with Yellow Soutache (Halfar). An incredibly rare, museum-grade original World War II German Wehrmacht/Heer black wool side cap (Schiffchen / overseas cap). This piece is in stone-mint, unissued surplus condition. While black wool is typically associated with the Panzertruppe, this exceptional cap features a factory-applied Wehrmacht T-model national eagle (grey-on-green backing) and standard Wehrmacht tricolor cockade, rather than the standard black-backed Panzer insignia. Adorning the front is a distinct lemon-yellow inverted "V" soutache chevron, designating service in the Nachrichten (Signals/Communications) branch assigned to armored or specialized units. Fully lined and beautifully marked, this is a premium investment-grade artifact for advanced headgear collectors. *

Exterior & Condition: The cap is in absolute mint, flawless condition with no moth holes, thinning, tears, or staining. The heavy black wool cloth retains its original factory nap and vibrant deep color. The BeVo-woven Wehrmacht T-model national eagle and the tricolor cockade are original to the cap, displaying tight, factory-applied period stitching.
Soutache & Vents: The lemon-yellow Signals soutache is perfectly centered and tight. Both sides of the cap retain their two original, intact blackened metal ventilation eyelets. The interior features a clean, mint brown-beige cotton/linen cloth lining with zero sweat stains, grease marks, or post-war wear. The lining is deeply and crisply stamped with the complete manufacturer profile: "Carl Halfar Berlin N 20", followed by the production month and year "II 1940" and the size marking "56".
