Complete WWII German 29 cm Marching Snare Drum Set - Intact Heads & Accessories
This is an exceptional, wonderfully complete World War II German military marching snare drum set, representing a cornerstone piece of period musical and uniform history. Crucially, this is the highly desirable and scarce 29 cm diameter variant (Kleine Marschtrommel), a compact size highly sought after by specialized equipment collectors. Due to its reduced weight and size, this specific pattern was heavily utilized by Hitler Youth (HJ) and Deutsches Jungvolk (DJ) units, as well as select Wehrmacht regimental bands.
The brass-shelled drum retains its vibrant, completely original red-and-white painted "flame" pattern along the wooden hoops. In a remarkable state of preservation for vintage field instruments, both natural vellum drumheads remain entirely intact and free of tears. Additionally, the wire snare strainer on the bottom head remains fully present and properly taut. The drum comes complete with its matching pair of blackened wooden drumsticks.
Enhancing this ensemble's collective value are two rare period accessories. Included is an original brass drum hanger hook, highly detailed and styled as a German eagle, complete with its factory-mounted brown leather belt loop assembly. Alongside the hardware is a single, matching red-and-white musician's sleeve patch, traditionally known as a swallow's nest (Schwalbennest), which was affixed to the shoulders of drummers to signify their musical unit status. Showing honest, light contemporary storage age and fantastic visual display character, this complete, untouched marching set is an incredibly scarce find on the modern militaria market.
